Event result is a transaction of data describing an event (the change as a result of a transaction) and is usually electronically transmitted information.
Transaction data always has a time dimension, a numerical value and refers to one or more objects (i.e. reference data). Typical event results are: financial orders, invoices, payments, activity records, etc. Logistics transactions: deliveries, storage records, travel records, etc.
Recording and retaining transaction (factors of event result) is called records management. The record of the transaction is stored in a place where the retention can be guaranteed and where data is archived/removed following a retention period. The format of transaction data (to be stored in a database), can also be a document.
Transaction data can be summarised in a data warehouse, which helps accessibility and analysis of the data, or povides for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
Data modeling is an event result method used to define and analyze data requirements needed to support the business processes of an organization. The data requirements are recorded as a conceptual data model with associated data definitions.
